Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
Agreed.

Full strength with only swap outs considered a wholesale GK and two CBs who have all played together Europa and League Cup thus far, performed well. (Ok one GK ricket but the guys 7 fucking foot tall)

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
Rice and Antonio HAVE to play. They are the only two players that’ll give us a chance of beating them, take either one out and we get turned over comfortably.

Rice will play. Shop window and all that.

Think will be close to the Spurs lineup.

Can’t afford to get heavily beaten. Need to keep some momentum.

''Even one point from the game could be decisive''

So could have a point apiece from last min calamity's against Man Utd and Brentford, then again we got 2 extra pts at Leeds in the last min. Who says things don't even themselves out!

I even put ‘League Cup’ in the title.

What a chump.

Oh shi-

Just ignore the previous post.

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
Man City will obviously be expecting three points so this is the perfect game for the counter-attacking style we used so effectively for most of last season. If clubs like Man Utd turn their form around, this could be a six-pointer for Champions League places. Even one point from the game could be decisive. I doubt that Moyes got into the Champions League with Everton by playing weakened sides in games like this.

Sven has it right, lets give this a REAL go, nothing less than strongest team possible.

Players dont need to be rested, we're not even at halloween yet.

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
Full strength, maybe with Areola in goal

This is an all or nothing
If we got out so be it and we have the chance to rest going forward but if we can get through the Cup opens up and we are contenders
We have some leeway being 6pts clear in the Europa and we dont play Villa til Sunday
SEIZE THE DAY

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
We’re still in October!! Players aren’t going to be knackered at all. I think continuity is a big thing in football. The more the same group play the better they get.

So it could actually be beneficial for Sunday to play a similar team against city on Wednesday.

Look what happened to spurs when they rested players for us. I don’t know if it all that resting thing works really.
And playing City always means you bring your A team because they don’t really have a B team so they?

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
For all the fanfare in the summer the squad is still very light in terms of options

At this stage, at home, 60k, I'd play our first team with Areola in goal

That's a statement, stop fucking worrying about the games coming thick and fast

We beat this lot then we are genuine contenders to win the fucker

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
In recent years we have seen managers sticking with pretty much the same side as the previous round, as in you got us this far now carry on, malarkey.

I'd be surprised to see Antonio start.

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
I hate to say it, but I'm going all Fat Sam on this one. I've always been strongly opposed to putting out weak teams in cup games on the basis of why the fuck have we entered them if we're not goint to try and win it.

But right now we've got a lot of important games coming thick and fast and for me the Caribao cup has become quite meaningless.

However, there is a caveat I'd add. With it being a 60,000 sell out already I do hesitate to suggest a complete reserve team that would take a thrashing in front of such a big gate.
So I'm a bit in two minds about it.

Over to you moyesie. That's why you get paid the big bucks.

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
they don't play until sunday, a strong team is essential against them cunts and changing formation is suicidal. arthur can play in Belgium next week

Re: Team for Man City - League Cup
Isn't this exactly the type of game we have been resting our players for?

So what if the poor little lambs have to play 2 games of football in a week.

It's a cup game against City. A strong team please.
